" Anger is a fleak of fire lodged in the heart of man. As upward motion is the nature of fire, so anger takes its motion and rises to the upper parts of the body and consequently gives motions, expressions and gestures. Eyes become red and expanded, the face is pumped up, the ears are raised and all other organs are set in motion. Wisdom, the great gift of the brain, passes away and the person becomes a brute devoid of any sense. Blood boils and circulates through the veins like boiling water in a kettle and inundates the whole region of the brain."

ANGER

The Prophet of Islam said:
"Nobody swallows a more bitter pill than that
of anger for the Pleasure of Almighty Allah."

To be angry is to revenge the fault of others upon ourselves. It is easy to fly into passion - anybody can do that - but to be angry with the right person to the right extent and at the right time and with the right object and in the right way - that is not easy, and it is not everyone who can do it. Anger is annihilation of the heart of the wise. He who can not control his anger cannot control his mind. An angry man (whatever the reason for his anger) realizes the meaningless of his anger after he calms down, and in most cases he feels that he should apologise to those he has insulted. If you accustom yourselves to admitting the uselessness of anger when it occurs, you will Insha'Allah reduce the degree of its unwanted consequences. Almighty Allah Subhanahu Wata'ala tells us in verse 134 of Surah Al-i-Imran:

"Those who spend (in the way of Allah) in ease and
adversity, those who control their rage and are forgiving
towards mankind. Allah loves those who do good."

A righteous person who has fallen into sin or error, does not whine or despair, but begs for Almighty Allah's forgiveness, and his or her faith gives him or her hope. If he or she is sincere, that means abandoning wrong conduct and making amends. It is common knowledge that anger and frustration which occurs as a result of it have dangerous effects on one's health. According to health specialists anger can cause sudden death if it reaches certain levels of intensity. Hazrat Ali R.A. said: "He who does not restrain his anger, speeds his death. Avoid anger, for it its beginning is ludicrous, and its end is sorrow." He also said: "Anger is a raging fire, he who suppresses it extinguishes the fire, and he who sets it free is the first to burn in it."Attiyyah-b-Urwah As-Sa'di reported that our Beloved Nabee Sallallahoo Alayhi Wasallam said: [reported by Abu Daud].

"Verily anger comes from Shaytaan, and he was created
from fire, and verily fire is extinguished by water. So
whoever of you gets angry, let him perform the Wudhu."

Anger is a fleak of fire lodged in the heart of man. Blood boils and circulates through the veins like boiling water in a kettle and inundates the whole region of the brain. The conduct of Shaytaan has found a place in the man in whom anger has found a place as Almighty Allah Subhanahu Wata'ala informs us in verse 12 of Surah Al-A'raf: Shaytaan said:

"I am better than he. Thou created
me from fire, and him from clay."

Earth is steady and calm while fire is unsteady, rising and burning. The result of anger is hatred on account of which a man is ruined. Our Beloved Nabee Sallallahoo Alayhi Wasallam said: Anger is like burning coal which burns the heart. When one of you feels like that, let him sit down if standing, and lie down if sitting. Perform Wudhu or take a bath, as fire cannot be extinguished without water. Almighty Allah Subhanahu Wata'ala praises the one who appease his or her anger. Sabr [Patience] is better than appeasement of anger, as Sabr is brought with difficulty in appeasing it. That is the sign of the perfection of intellect. Self-control at the moments of anger safeguards you from moments of perdition.

What then is more evil than anger? Surely a person can be angered and in turn kill a soul which is prohibited by Almighty Allah Subhanahu Wata'ala. Scientific investigation regarding the philosophical effect on anxiety revealed changes in all the body members; the heart, veins, stomach, brain, and internal glands all change their natural course of functioning during moments of anger. Adrenalin plays the role of burning fuel in moments of anger instead of other hormones. Anger makes a person like a small stream running between mighty mountains making loud noises. Noble men, who enjoy moral excellence, are like great rivers running between swamps and into seas without creating turbulence.

There are many astonishing secrets surrounding the human being which is equipped with two great powers: reason and will. Reason is the light which specifies the fate of the human soul in this life. It is considered the representative of man's factual personality, and is a shining light that illuminates the pages of life. Without the guidance and supervision of reason we cannot advance on the ever-complex avenues of life. Seeking revenge, which is often associated with anger, fills life with gloominess. If we intend to treat evil with evil at all instances, and revenge from our foes by uttering impolite insults, we would have to waste most of our lives in arguments and controversies.

It is also a disease if a human being does not feel angry in any circumstances even when the worst wrongs are being committed before his or her eyes and he or she remains unaffected. Almighty Allah Jallah Wa'ala has created anger in a person, so that he or she may defend his or her life, property and above all his or her faith. It it also a disease if the faculty of anger exceeds its limits. It is quite right that a person feels angry to defend himself or herself against the atrocities of his or her enemies. Anger is natural to a human being and there is no human being without the instinct of anger. Whoever keeps it under control is blessed. However, there are times when anger is permitted as described above.

The heart of a human being inherits the light of happiness and waves of noble feelings from forgiveness. We even prevail over our foes and force them to submit by forgiving their mistakes. It also grants us confidence in ourselves and others, and the light of love and harmony shine from it. Forgiveness leads archenemies to harmonize with each other and overlook disagreement and dissension. Knowledge is a means of reducing violence and improving our manners. The more one's circle of knowledge increases, the more one is able to resist the traps of lusts. So, he or she becomes patient and more forgiving.

We must search for happiness in real felicity. Felicity together with tranquility provide those who adhere to the calls of their conscience with success. The reward of those who observe their responsibilities is self-confidence and the harmony of both the mind and the conscience. This comforting feeling stems from the soul of those who carry out their responsibilities in life. The best way to peaceful living is simply to live in peace with others. Hatred, enmity and anger stem from mental instability, especially when there are no apparent causes. We can and must solve issues in a true Islamic manner but arrogance prevent us from doing so.

If you interact with an unstable, ill-natured, angry person, try to lead him  to goodness and stability. Try to make such a person feel that you trust and respect him  like an honorable person. You will find that he  will try to keep the trust and confidence you have placed in him. Consequently, in order for him to prove that he is worthy of your trust, he will try to do what makes him qualified for your trust. There is not a thing that makes life more beautiful in our eyes, reduces our sufferings, and paves the way for success like optimism and trust do. A believer, whose heart is comfortable with belief and trust in Almighty Almighty Rabbul Ala'meen, depends on that unlimited power whenever he or she is inflicted with weakness. The light of gladness shines in the eyes of such a person and the heart sparkles like stars with an understanding eye.

The Din of Haqq deems it obligatory for all Muslims to observe the rules of manners and good conduct so as to preserve unity. Islam forbids slander and sarcasm in order to avoid dissention and the weakening of brotherly relationships. Therefore, it is the duty of every Muslim to observe the rights of others and to refrain from insulting or humiliating them. Because of our ignorance, we frequently ignore our shortcomings and conceal them under a veil of ignorance and unawareness so as to lure ourselves in this manner.

In closing, I pray to Almighty Allah Subhanahu Wata'ala - Most Exalted Creator and Sustainer of the heavens and the earth, the Lord of the Divine Throne Who has no partner or helper, and Who controls and manages every atom in existence, to help us reap the benefits of this reading, and I implore Him to forgive us our sins, those we commit knowingly, and those we commit in ignorance, to grant us His good pleasure in this world and in the life to come, to guide us, and to make our last actions in this life pleasing to Him, to make the conclusion of our lives in this world blessed by Him, and to make the best of our days the day we meet Him.
