Bulla Ki Jaana Maen Kaun
by the Punjabi mystic poet Bhulle Shah

Says Bulla, who knows who I am!
I am not in the mosque of the believer,
Nor in false rites.
I am not in the pure or the impure.
Neither Moses nor Pharaoh.
Says Bulla, who knows who I am!

I am not in the vedas or holy books,
Not in drug or wine.
Not in the drunkards wasted intoxication,
Not in wakefulness or sleep.
Says Bulla, who knows who I am!

I am not in sorrow nor in joy,
Neither in clean nor unclean.
I am not water, I am not earth,
I am not fire, I am not air.
Says Bulla, who knows who I am!

I am not from Arabia or Lahore,
Nor from India or Nagaur.
Neither a hindu or muslim from Peshawar,
Nor do I live in Nadaun.
Says Bulla, who knows who I am!

I cannot be unearthed in the mysteries of religion.
I was not born of Adam and Eve.
I am not the name I assume.
I am not in stillness, not in movement.

Finally, I only know myself.
I cannot know any other.
Who could be wiser than I?
Bulla asks, who then, stands here?
Says Bulla, who knows who I am!

Bulla Ki Jaana Maen Kaun

Bulla, ki jaana maen kaun.

Na maen moman vich maseetaan,
Na maen vich kufar diyan reetaan,
Na maen paakaan vich paleetaan,
Na maen moosa na pharaun.
Bulla, ki jaana maen kaun.

Na maen andar ved kitaabaan,
Na vich bhangaan na sharaabaan,
Na vich rindaan masat kharaabaan,
Na vich jaagan na vich saun.
Bulla, ki jaana maen kaun.

Na vich shaadi na ghamnaaki,
Na maen vich paleeti paaki.
Na maen aabi na maen khaaki
Na maen aatish na maen paun.
Bulla, ki jaana maen kaun.

Na maen arabi na lahori,
Na maen hindi shehar nagauri,
Na hindu na turak peshawri
Na maen rehnda vich nadaun.
Bulla, ki jaana maen kaun.

Na maen bhed mazhab da paaya
Ne maen aadam havva jaaya,
Na maen apna naam dharaaya
Na vich baitthan na vich bhaun.
Bulla, ki jaana maen kaun.

Avval aakhir aap nu jaana,
Na koi dooja hor pehchaana.
Maethon hor na koi siyaana
Bulla shauh khadda hai kaun.
Bulla, ki jaana maen kaun.

Fall is here!
I think it's the most wonderful time of the year

The leaves turn many a color
While small critters wander and flutter

Leaves fall here and there,
Birds fly through the air

Summer is over, winter is near
autumn winds blow
Fall is here!

Red, yellow, orange, brown,
kids are jumping in leaves throughout the town

animals are gathering food,
everyone is so busy
there is no time to brood.

Looking at the colorful leaves
reminds me of a toucan’s beak
for autumn is all the fun I seek

the sun no longer shines so bright
winds now blow with all their might
well, it’s time to say
Fall is here !
