NAHJUL BALAGHA
A Sermon of Imam Ali ibni Abi Talib (a)

I warn you of the world for it is the abode of the unsteady. It is not a house for foraging. It has decorated itself with deception and deceives with its decoration. It is a house which is low before Alláh. So He has mixed its lawful with its unlawful, its good with its evil, its life with its death, and its sweetness with its bitterness.                                                                               ...........................................................  Article ..... 2

A Shi'ite Anthology by Sayyid Hosein Nasr

(Excerpt from the Introduction to Allamah Sayyid Tabatabai's book,  Shi'ite Islam )
Despite the vast amount of scholarship carried out by Western orient lists since the nineteenth century and the analyses and translations made of various Islamic sources, very little attention has been paid thus far to the collection of religious sayings, sermons, prayers, proverbs and didactic expositions which comprises the corpus of Hadith as understood by Twelve Imam Shi'ite Muslims. It is of course true that much of the substance of the Shi'ite hadith collection resembles the Sunni collection, [1] and to the extent that the latter has been studied the former has also been dealt with in an indirect manner. But in as much as Shi'ite hadiths possess a form, style and "perfume" of their own, no indirect treatment of their substance and content can replace the direct translation and analysis of this collection itself.                           .............................................  Article ..... 3

ISLAM AND WORLD PEACE  By Dr. Shahid Athar

The basic question is , if Islam is peace or for peace then why is there so much unrest in the Muslim world?  The second question is if Islam can offer peace to a world which is not at peace in general or to man who is neither at peace with himself or with his surroundings?    ........................................  Article ..... 6

SEIZE THE OPPORTUNITY !
 by Rumi
By the mercy of God, Paradise has eight door
one of those is the door of repentance, Son !
All the others are sometimes open, sometimes shut,
but the door of repentance is never closed.
Come seize the opportunity: the door is open;
carry your baggage there at once.             ....................

Do it today -  Before it's too late !
If I knew that, this would be the last time we would be together, I would be there to spend my whole day with all my dear ones. Well I'm sure if I'm not around they will manage somehow and will have many more days to spend, but I should somehow not let this day slip away, that may be my only day.                                                     ..............................................

On Happiness and Peace in Marriage  by Syed Nasir

Every woman is gifted by nature with immeasurable strength and ability to keep a family together. In the past, woman has always acted as a nucleus to maintain the social order of a home. Regardless of changes in the social and economic milieu, the woman still remains, both in the east and the west, the primary custodian and care- taker of the fortress of a household. Whereas man has always been traditionally and primarily responsible for providing the livelihood,
it is still the supreme role of woman to hold the fort and make sure ' all is good and well ' before the man steps into the door after his day's work.                                           ........................................................

But national Muslim groups are pushing for a change to "Judeo-Christian-Islamic" or "Abrahamic" to stress the common roots of the three faiths, as well as the growing Muslim population in this country.   Article ..... 10
